St. John’s Arts & Crafts Co-Op

Co·op·er·a·tive -Adjective; working or acting together willingly for a common purpose or benefit.

Our mission  is to encourage people to use their God-given creative talents and abilities to make handmade items of all types. Anyone, any age, is invited to engage in the creative process either at home or with a group during our weekly evening gatherings. We try very hard to use all donated materials, and when we offer our items for sale to the parish and community, the proceeds go directly to outreach, both locally and globally. The Co-Op is not about great artists or expensive art, but rather about all kinds of arts and crafts, with a broad range of materials and prices. It goes without saying that this is about having fun and giving yourself permission to play. It changes everything knowing that we have the power in our hands to help make a real difference in the world just by doing what we love to do.

We are looking for you!  Have you ever enjoyed creating things like greeting cards, jewelry, embroidery, knitting, crochet, candle making, calligraphy, ornaments, quilting, pottery, photography, painting, sewing, holiday decorations and gifts, decoupage, woodworking, dolls or doll clothes, or other things too numerous to mention? Are you a closet artist or craftsperson or do you know someone who is? Do you have a hobby but find it hard to make time for yourself? Do you like to hang out with creative people? When was the last time you had fun and played?

Did you know?  The Co-Op was founded in 2009. We gather on certain Tuesdays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and our workshops are open to everyone. We have a studio full of arts & crafts supplies and a resource library of books, magazines and patterns available to anyone, for use at church or at home. The Co-Op is the perfect place to make new friends, share talents and learn new things. Wonderful things happen when a group of people combine their talents and energy. The Co-Op is a living process and the sum of the people who participate in it. We are always looking for new faces and new resources.

How can I participate?  Come and play with us on Tuesdays. Donate supplies that you don’t need. We can always use fabric, arts & crafts supplies, buttons, vintage table linens, lace, papers, etc. Anything vintage! Any donations that we can’t use are passed on to local thrift shops.
